Happy Memorial Day

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and at least had a moment to pause and remember the meaning of Memorial Day. With a brother currently serving and several family members who are Veterans, I understand the necessity of honoring those who have given all for their country! We had a very nice weekend. Our big project was the backyard and we spent most of our weekend on that. We celebrated Brad's 26th birthday on Thursday with dinner and presents. Gary and Connie took Braden for us on Sunday night and we were able to get out and enjoy and evening to ourselves. We went to the backporch in for drinks with a few of Brad's cousins. We had a fun time and made it home at a decent hour. I just want to preface one of these photos of Brad and I. I'm not three sheets to the wind, Brad kept pulling on my hair before the picture was taken, and right as Natalie hit the button I tried to move out of his way. It's a pretty funny looking! I also put some cute new pics of Braden and Bathtime, and Braden outside "helping" with the backyard. Basically he sat in his bouncy seat and watched us all sweat and lift heavy things. He is one smart baby getting out of work like that! Lastly, Grandma Singleton is in the hospital undergoing surgery as we speak. She fell and broke her hip last night. She is looking at months of recovery, so if you could pray for her that would be wonderful. She is still very active at 85 and sitting in a rehab facility for weeks is not going to make for a pleasant time. Hopefully she will recover fast and all will go well! Enjoy the week!

The After Shots of the Backyard

Our Backyard

Brad and I have been working to get our very tiny litttle backyard into shape. It has taken about 3 weekends total to get it where we wanted it. First we had to weed, something that hasn't been done since this condo was built in 1980. Next Brad had to remove a small tree from one side of the "garden" area. Then we had to get new dirt down and get the concrete stepping stones ready to lay down. When we were done, we had a mini garden on one side and and "extended" patio area that we set our grill on. Thanks to my parents for coming down and helping us complete the project. Here are some pictures of "Before and After."

Braden and His New Toys!

So I have been very remiss on an update. I know my Nanny has probably pulled out her medical dictionary because Braden went to his specialist this week, and I will apologize because I don't know the exact medical term. Braden has always had heavy breathing. After the urging of many family members, we finally badgered the doctor into checking into his breathing issue. My parent's neighbor Joy, who is a Peds Nurse, told us that it was a loose flap in the esophagus that he would grow out of. We were told by the Peds doctor that it could be the loose flap, acid reflux or something worse requiring surgery. Luckily, Braden went to the doctor on Monday and it was just a loose flap. The doctor did some xrays and determined that he would grow out of it. We still have to go back in July to check his progress. The rest of our week did not go so smooth. Braden was still fighting the virus that he has had since last week, and Brad and I have both been sick. I'm posting some pics of Braden in his Jumparoo. Aunt Francie bought this early on in my pregnancy because this was a "must have " from Brad. Even though Braden is a little early in being put in it, he loves it. He just laughs and stares at his new toys. He like to try and grab the big front thing that lights up and plays music. We enjoy putting him in it because he can see us and still play on his own.

A Visit to Grandpa Bryan and Grandma Anna

Here are some pics from Braden's visit to Springfield and I have added some other random ones as well. We don't have a lot to do other than take pictures of him it seems like! Kidding of course, enjoy!

Sunny Days!

Lately, we have been working on our very small backyard, trying to get all of the weeds up and flowers planted. We are also working on extending our patio so we can get the grill out of the main area. We took some pictures of Braden outside, and I just realized it was really his first time in the direct sun. I made him wear his hat, sunscreen and even his sunglasses. He is less than thrilled with the sunglasses, and they are slightly too big. However, he looks adorable in them so I posted the pictures for everyone to enjoy!

Random Pictures From May

We have had a relatively low key couple of weeks without any trips or anything really going on. We have had plenty of time to clean the house and get some stuff organized in preparation for a very busy summer. I took a few of these pictures when Braden was in his diaper. Much like his cousin Harrison, he hates to be hot. We call him "Naked Boy" because as soon as you take his clothes (and sometimes his diaper) off, he smiles and laughs and giggles. Don't worry, we will be sure to discontinue that nickname before he is old enough to be embarrassed by it!
